THE BOWES MUSEUM - SILVER SWAN

Commission to make a limited edition of silver swan brooches to sell in the Shop.

The design was taken from the Bowes Museum's logo.  A prototype was made & approved before making a master ready for casting.  Handmade brooch findings were then added before hallmarking & polishing.

SET OF 6 DOUBLE-SIDED DRESS STUDS

An antique cufflink made from mother of pearl with a small pearl in the centre was brought into the workshop.

The design was copied with holes being drilled through mother of pearl discs to set the pearls on metal stems.  All the metal work was done by hand.
On the reverse are black onyx discs.

RECYCLING

The client wanted to re-use two chipped emeralds from a ring of highly sentimental value.

We discussed & sketched various ideas before deciding on the final design & texture of the gold background.
